DocCeleratorCapture is an online documentary program focusing on the recording process and visual expression. It is aimed at you, if you are a documentary maker wanting a better grip of the recording of your next film. The workshop focuses the actual recording process and how to lift the filmic expression of your project. The next opportunity to take place in DocCeleratorCapture is May 06-07, 2021. Deadline to apply is April 12, 2021.
As a participant in DocCeleratorCapture you get:
- feedback on defining and outlining key stylistic elements
- approaches to creating a stronger filmic expression
- tools for setting up interviews and character moments
- methods for building visual dynamics in scenes and sequences.
The two-day workshop consists of a number of plenary sessions, where the selected participants get comprehensive feedback on how to make a stronger visual approach to their film. It also includes four precise exercises that the tutors provide, in order to enhance the filmic style of each of the selected projects. After the workshop the participants will get individual follow up on their projects as they develop their ideas for recording scenes and moments.
During the two working days of DocCeleratorCapture, you will as a participant join a number of online plenary sessions. Here you will be introduced to approaches and methods for documentary recording, and you will receive concrete feedback on your project in order to create a stronger filmic approach. In addition, you will also work with concrete assignments, accelerating and improving the visual style of your project.
When the two-day workshop is completed, you will have learned an approach for the development of visual expression and filmic style, which you can also apply to future projects you will be recording.
Besides generating creative input and methods to building a stronger visual style, DocCeleratorCapture saves selected participants many hours of working during the actual recording and editing of the film. With the more precise defined visual approach developed during the workshop, the recording and editing will be more streamlined and time saving. The essence of DocCeleratorCapture is to invest in the pre-recording in order to create a stronger set-up for the actual recording of the film.
The DocCeleratorCapture program is for six selected filmmakers or teams with a project that has already been through the first development and with a precise idea about the central story elements. It consists of a two-day online workshop and follow up mentorship. The DocCeleratorCapture workshop is run by Geoffrey Smith and Ove Rishøj Jensen.
Dates for the next edition of the two-day online workshop are May 06-07, 2021. Deadline to apply is April 12, 2021. Participants, either as a single filmmaker or as at team, pay 450,00 Euro to participate with a project in development. The participation fee includes the two workshop days as well as an individual follow up meeting.
In order to apply for DocCeleratorCapture, please send your project presentation including:
- Synopsis – half a page
- Treatment and early reflections on the narrative – around a full page
- A link to selected scenes, character taster or other visual material available
- An estimated time frame and total budget sum for the making of the film
- Contact details on the director and producer.
