The MFI Script2Film Workshops is an advanced development program focusing on script writing for European & international film professionals. The program includes the Doc Lab, which focuses on script development for ambitious creative feature length documentaries. Deadline for applying with a project is April 5, 2021. 

The Script2Film program is open to 35 European & international creative teams of screenwriters, directors and producers with a feature film, TV series or a documentary project in development. The selected participating will develop their story ideas from the current early status to a detailed script, containing muck stronger dramatic impact and international audience potential.

The 2021 Script2Film program consists of four intensive workshop sessions. The sessions will combine group work, individual writing exercises, master classes and individual mentorships. As a result, the selected projects get a development methodology for working structured with script development.

A part of this large script program, is the MFI Doc Lab, dedicated exclusively to six documentary project teams, each currently working on an ambitious feature length documentary. As a participant of the Doc Lab, you will develop the story focus, narrative construction, character development and other essential dramatic elements of your documentary project. The Doc Lab is tutored by Director Marco Gastine and Consultant Ove Rishøj Jensen. 

Script2Film consists of 2 on-location workshop sessions and 2 online sessions per year:

• The first residential workshop will take place in the Greek island of Nisyros from June 21 – July 3, 2021
• an online session, in August/September 2021
• the second residential session will take place in the Greek island of Rhodes from October 10 – October 17, 2021
• the program will be concluded with a final online session in December 2021.

The program involves some of the most established screenwriting teachers, producers & industry experts from Europe and the USA as trainers & tutors. Furthermore, in every workshop session, renowned international filmmakers offer master classes and participate in Q&A sessions.
